Very easy to use break barrel. I was having a big problem trying to find a youth pellet or bb rifle for my 9 year old son. He’s a little on the skinny side and struggled severely with the daisy traditional pump bb rifle to the point that it frustrated him and took all the fun away. Some of these break barrel rifles can be stiff and require a decent amount of strength to arm. So I was a little bit worried but he has no problem at all loading and firing this rifle. Combining that, the amazing accuracy and the price of this I can’t recommend it enough. The power of this little guy is nothing to laugh about either. We set up cans, drink bottles and targets as far as 20-30 yards out and the pellet made it there with virtually no drop or loss of power penetrating every target with ease and surprising accuracy. I mounted a $19 scope purchased from umarexoutlet.com on this thing and literally shot the top off water bottles from 20 yards away over and over again. This rifle is very fun and easy to use even for my left handed son and I have been enjoying it too.

Grandson likes it but definitely uses HIGH quality pellets for any kind of accuracy. We Mounted a cheap scope for accuracy. Upgraded scope was better. After 120′ shot tend to “die off” .

Very pleased with the quality for this price. Arrived in great condition. Open sights are tight and sighted ok. Mounted a Beeman 4×32 spare scope. Shooting 3/4″ group at 17 yards with CPHP and Daisy flat nosed cheap pellets, 7.9 gr. Very easy cocking. Very fun. Pellets fit tight and do as well as my RWS Superdomes, which fit looser for some reason. Can not explain why, but my magnum springer is the opposite as RWS fits tighter and shoots better than the cheap pellets. Get the pellet your gun likes for sure. Very good deal here. Now I only need Copperhead BB’s for the Daisy 1999, RWS for magnums, and cheap Crosman hollowpoint for the Ruger. I am a cheap happy camper! Highly recommend the Explorer for youth or adult plinking. Look out tree rats…
EDIT, UPDATE; Just got 0.5″ group at 17 yards after 500 shots and silicone treatment to the compression chamber. Using Crosman 7.9 gr Hollow Point Pellets, 177 cal. This is as accurate as any of my air guns at this range for a cheap pellet. Very good performance. Evidently this gun needs a break in period. No problem here! Usually that means the product is well made and will last a very long time. Great gun.

I bought 2 of them one worked great the other one had a defect it fired when returning the barrel to shoot and I shot the ceiling 3 times so I returned it and bought another one I hope it works when it arrives so be very careful at first to make sure it don’t fire on its own. I have it 5 stars because the First one shoots awesome and is a tac driver at 20 yards

My main tool is Gammo air rifle, which is great, except it’s really heavy and so requires table and tripod setup, which is a hassle. Also, Gammo is really better suited for longer distances. However, I needed something lightweight and with short barrel to use in an apartment, and this Ruger’s the answer: It’s extremely lightweight, the shorter barrel suits accommodates tight spaces well, and it’s deadly accurate right out of the box! Shoots at least 350’/second to deliver humane neutralization. The safety mechanism is an asset, too! In sum, this Ruger is amazing! I do recommend!
