   These air rifles have barrel droop, this means the (break) barrel is not in line with the piston and the plastic(!) picatinny scope mount. I encountered this issue with both of these rifles that I purchased.
   While they shoot accurately with the iron sights provided, once you add a scope, they are off by a foot in the vertical. This cannot be compensated by adjusting the scope.
   As I cannot return them, I have to either bend the barrel, or attempt to file the barrel lock mechanism stop.

   This gun does very well with heavy lead pellets. With open sights it’s a dime sized group at 20 yards. After every barrel break the safety auto resets. The safety has a ridiculous amount of effort to operate even after a couple hundred pellets. The click is also very loud when taken off safe.

   First off I own 4 pellet rifles and this one is so loud! I shot 5 times before putting back in the safe. I will probably never use again, the trigger sucks, way too hard, the safety is by far the stiffest I have ever encountered. Really bummed out. Used a $300 scope and it was all over the place at 20 yards as well.

   If you know nothing about air rifles then you would have a horrible review like some of these. This rifle is excellent I have shot many different types of pcp, break barrels, and co2 air guns. This rifle performs like a Rolls Royce, it is robust and very smooth. For what you pay for this rifle you get much more for your money. With a quality scope I easily hit consistently from 0-100 yds and at 50yds I can hold dime to nickel size groups. The silencer is not quite what it should be but the more its fired the quieter it gets. As far as the inconsistent shooting mentioned in the the other reviews maybe you should try some 8.44 grain JSBs which are the most accurate in my rifle. One more thing, these rifles dont react like Grandpas 22 rifle, its more of a practice makes perfect thing. airguns are not for everybody. It takes a little pre-buyers knowledge to get what you are comfortable with. I highly suggest to go out and do some gunning with someone who is experienced with break barrels. Great rifle! I love it!

   As another buyer said. Sheers the bolt right off after just a few uses. I personally wouldn’t buy this weapon again. It shoots straight once dialed in and it definitely has killing power for these dang ground squirrels but now it can’t do a thing until I fix it with a proper bolt.

    ***update 6/23/23 My rifle stock broker right at the screw where the stock attaches in the front after shooting it a lot for the past 14 months, I called the manufacturer and they are sending me a prepaid return label to replace the rifle, no questions asked. great customer service! I have to say I have had similar rifles to this made by Umarex, specifically the Umarex Ruger Blackhawk .177 Caliber Pellet Gun Air Rifle with 4x32mm Scope. these guns are very similar, the biggest difference being the Ruger has a more conventional stock, which I like much better. The ruger also has a better scope from the factory. The main reason the Umarex SurgeMax is a superior rifle, is that it has a standard scope rail. While the Ruger had a better scope, I would not call it good, and the rings are non standard. I installed a Vortex scope on the SurgeMax Elite and it made it pretty easy to hit squirrels at 30ish yards. I have been using JBS Diable 8.26 grain .177 pellets and have been impressed with the lethality although at 30 yards is pushing it for a sure kill. I am suspect that hits beyond that range are probably lethal or slow down the animal to enough to make it susceptible to predators, and thus acceptable for my purposes. My biggest complaint about the rifle is that the safety is a bit goofy, and you can only take it off once which is not a huge deal for me as I don’t use it, but it does come on every time you charge the rifle. That said the scope that came with the gun does not hold a zero, the Blackhawk came with a scope with aluminum turret covers and does a better job of holding zero, but is nothing like the vortex scope, the Surgemax scope is a complete waste and I wish you could order the rifle without it.
